Thank you for visiting our Tango Now! page.
Until we have our new website up and running this will be the first point of contact for aspiring dancers,
albeit watch out for social media posts, including in Tango In North London and elsewhere.
My name is Danny Israel and I have done a 20 year
apprenticeship in tango, starting when I was dragged along, reluctantly and protesting, to my first class, in 1999.
Something must have happened, because my life changed radically for the better - a common experience among tango dancers -
and a decade later I got my first overseas booking, to teach and perform, at the Beijing Olympics. Since then I have taught and performed twice more in Beijing, and also in Buenos Aires on several occasions, in London, where I am based, and in Boston (MA), Los Angeles, San Diego, Hollywood, Hong Kong, Venice Beach, Malibu, Cuernavaca, Mexico City, Nice, and Croatia
among numerous other tango destinations, but the sad truth is that I never came across a single other UK
performer/teacher on my travels. Indeed no other UK dancer, to my knowledge has achieved this level of
exposure for UK tango, since we took our first tango lesson in 1913, and those few UK
dancers who have achieved a degree of traction in tango have almost
always had additional dance training outside tango.
Tango Now! is thus on a mission, to put UK tango dancers in the front rank, and we very much hope
that you will join us in this endeavour. As our name suggests, we are impatient for change, and for achievement. If I, who
was fifty years of age when I took my first class, can do it, you, who are in your twenties and thirties, twenty years later, are ideally placed for success today.
New free classes begin on Sept 7th at
16 Balderton St.,
